While I was at dinner with my boyfriend I saw something on CNN that made me sick. A couple of days ago a five year old boy was asked to leave the classroom, NOT by the teacher but by a class vote. The teacher allowed the students to say what they felt about him. What kind of example are you an educator presenting to your students?? I can’t believe that a teacher would do that to a student. A teacher should be protecting the student regardless of their physical or mental capabilities. I hope that this teacher looses their teaching license because a person like that should not be teaching ANYONE. I don’t care that the child has Autism, children with Autism can still learn in school just like normal children. This story hit home personally because of the struggles that my family went through in school. From other postings I have mentioned that I have a brother,who is schizophrenic, while he was in middle school if a teacher or student would yell at him he would start crying. If it was not for my mother sitting down with all his teachers and focusing them to understand him mental illness, I guarantee that would have happened to him.
